Another site I've been working on just went live this week:  The site sells high-end first-aid and emergency preparedness kits.  I've seen two of the kits in person and they are really well organized and high quality kits.  The framework for the MobileAid website is based on the nopCommerce framework.

nopCommerce UPS Shipping Module Failing with GoDaddy Hosting

by dcurtis 11/6/2009 5:35:00 PM

I am deploying a commerce site for one of my customers utilizing the nopCommerce storefront.

When testing the site locally, I had no issues utilizing the UPS Shipping module that came with the application; however, when I loaded the application to GoDaddy, the shipping module would hang for awhile and then generate the following error:

System.Web.HttpUnhandledException: Exception of type 'System.Web.HttpUnhandledException' was thrown. ---> System.Net.WebException: The operation has timed out at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetRequestStream()

The issue was occuring when the HttpWebRequest object was calling GetRequestStream(). I searched the web and the nopCommerce forums; however, I didn't find an answer to my problem; however, I did find someone experiencing a similar issue with Google Checkout in another post that can be found here.  Per the post, I changed the requests KeepAlive property to false in the DoRequest method of the UPSComputationMethod.cs file and everything worked as expected.
